Most store-bought sausages contain loads of preservatives, and organic versions can get pricey. Try these simple DIY sausages instead! They only require a few ingredients and are a nice blend of sweet and savory.
Ingredients:
1 pound ground turkey (or chicken)
1 small apple
1-2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon organic coconut oil
1-2 teaspoons raw honey or organic maple syrup (optional for added sweetness)
Directions:
Peel and grate apple, or shred in food processor. Place in paper towel and squeeze out excess moisture
Mix together all ingredients (except coconut oil) in a large bowl. Roll into 4 balls and smash into patties
Heat coconut oil in pan and add burgers. Cook on medium high heat, 1-2 minutes each side (until slightly brown). Reduce heat and cook for 15 minutes, or until center is no longer pink
